Prof. dr. sc. Krešimir Rotim graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, and today he is one of the most respected neurosurgeons in this part of Europe. He has won the award of the City of Zagreb for top achievements in medicine, and by the decision of the President of the Republic of Croatia, in September 2010 he was awarded the Order of the Danica Hrvatska with the figure of Katarina Zrinska.
Professional experience
During his studies, he was awarded three Rector’s Awards for the best student scientific achievement at the University of Zagreb. He completed his internship at the Health Centre of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, and he passed the professional exam in 1992. He began his specialization in neurosurgery in 1993 at the Department of Neurosurgery of the School of Medicine at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb. He passed the specialist exam in neurosurgery in 1998, after which he continued to work at the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb. In September 2000, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb. In December 2006, he was elected head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Centre “Sestre milosrdnice” in Zagreb, and in April 2008 he was made director of the hospital. In 2011, he was made a scientific advisor in the area of biomedicine and health – the field of clinical medical science.
